Yes, I'm talking about YOUR bedroom! Your day begins and ends in your bedroom. How do you start your day? How do you end your day? Do you even pay attention?

Many people do not think about the start or the end of the day. Most people focus on everything in the middle. Right? Your bedroom is a place to establish your day. I am not at all suggesting that you bring your work to the bedroom. Absolutely NOT! Rather pay attention to what happens first thing in the morning and the last thing at night. Keep your bedrooom tranquil! Set the tone for your day before you get out of bed.

I work with many brillant busy people and the bedroom can easily go from tranquil to turmoil. That's right! Bedroom clutter like clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. most likely spills over into other areas of your life - home, work and relationships. No one is perfect in this area so don't beat yourself up. Instead implement these few suggestions to help YOU set-up your extraordinary day and end it with ease as you prepare for a good night's rest:

  • Pray before you get out of bed and ask God to order your day.
  • Make your bed! I don't how many people don't do this. Making your bed is for YOU. Your bedroom will be welcoming and relaxing when you get back home.
  • Plan your wardrobe before you go to bed. I used to plan my wardrobe for the week based on the weather and my work assignments. I had a co-worker who planned her wardrobe a month at a time.
  • Put your clothes, shoes, jewelry, etc. away at the end of the day. Designate a place for soiled clothes and dry cleaning. I love jewelry hooks in my closet for easy access and return. And for you who have lots of shoes, get clear shoe container. Take a picture of the shoes and tape to the outside of the container.
  • Drink hot herbal tea without sweetner for better relaxation. Be sure to take the tea cup to the kitchen when you leave the bedroom in the morning.
  • Avoid night table clutter. Return books to the bookshelf before grabbng another.
  • Turn off the cell phone and house phone.
  • Reflect at the end of the day. This is a time to talk to God plus journal your thoughts. Sleep well...

My Body Is Temple LLC will be addressed health, food, exercise, etc., in generality, because, it is impossible to make an equal rule to regulate everyone’s habits. Not all can eat the same foods. Foods that are edible and healthy to one person may be distasteful and even harmful to another. Consult you physician when beginning a new diet or exercise plan.

Bedroom Clutter

Let's Go Organic

Posted on April 30, 2012

The month of May is a great time to go organic. Outdoor Farmers’ Markets are a great place to purchase locally grown organic fruits and vegetables. For many people, going organic may be hard to do especially if the food budget is tight. Why not increase the percentage of organic food in your diet by choosing organic versions of just a few foods that you eat often. This will reduce large changes to your food budget spending.

Strategize your organic purchases. Studies show that commercially-framed fruits and vegetables vary in their levels of pesticide residue. Fruits and vegetables with peels, such as bananas, oranges and avocados, have low levels compared to other fruits and vegetables. Here are a few foods you can buy organic for you and your family:

1. Milk: Many of our children consume large quantities of milk. Avoid the large levels of antibiotics, artificial hormones and pesticides found in conventional milk by switching to organic milk.

2. Potatoes: Most “American” diets consist of meat and potatoes.  It is known by a U.S.D.A test that 81% of potatoes still contained pesticides after being washed and peeled. Potatoes have one of the highest content of pesticides amongst all the fruits and vegetables.

New Year, New You!

New Year, New You!

A lot of people begin the New Year by making resolutions. We’ve all been there. We take a vow to lose weight, exercise more or spend more time with our family. We start the year with great intentions, but then we quickly relapse into old habits. What is your new year resolution?

Well, I asked my Heavenly Father what he wanted from me. He told me to be a trail blazer and led me to Isaiah 43:18-19, "Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wikderness and streams in the wasteland."

God does a new thing whenever He deems it neccesary which may not be the coming of the new year. Let Jesus do a new thing through YOU!

Big changes do not require big leaps. Permanent change is more likely to happen gradually than through one big restrictive plan. Are you tracking the trail?

Beautiful Body of Christ

Posted on December 1, 2011

Romans 12:4-6 reads “For even as we have many members in one body, and all the members have not the same office: so we, who are many, are one body in Christ, and severally members one of another. And having gifts differing according to the grace that was given to us, whether prophecy, [let us prophesy] according to the proportion of our faith;” God created us to be diverse in image and gifts. Yet, almost all of us have a hazy image of our body, often due to the significance our culture places on outward appearance and the aggression of media images of airbrushed models and celebrities. On a daily basis, we talk to ourselves in ways we would never speak to another. Imagine speaking to a child the way you speak to yourself about your body. It would destroy and squash a child. It affects you likewise, causing stress and emotional pain in your body, which can make improving your health or losing weight even more complicated. Imagine of all the brainpower, vision and time you use on improving, altering and judging your outward appearance. Who would you be and what could you accomplish if your valuable resources weren’t used this way? Constant emphasis on the external makes us discount the great presence and intelligence that is housed by the body. It makes us forget that we are the glory of his divine workmanship, supernatural power, of our Lord and fail to acknowledge the perfect creation He made us to be. The body you have right now is incredible!

Voluptuous Fat Cells

Posted on November 17, 2011

Fat cells are beautiful to look at: the wonderful building blocks of flab, the scrumptious wages of cheesecake and the bloated little sacks of grease that make more of us.

Scientists used to think that body fat and the cells it was made of were pretty much inert. They thought they were just an oily storage compartment. However, within the past decade research has shown that fat cells act like chemical factories and the body fat is potent stuff - a highly active tissue that secretes hormones and other substances with profound and sometimes harmful effects on metabolism, weight and overall health.

Did I mention hormones? Well, women between the ages 38 - 55 need to pay attention because you are entering into another phase of life. There is a natural alternative to hormone replacement.

MBT can naturally help you through this stage of life without hormone replacement.

Get Unhurried; Seek God

Posted on November 1, 2011

Wow! The holidays are here!! Thanksgiving holiday is upon us and Christmas is around the corner. Who doesn’t feel the pressure of planning - holiday food menus, gift lists, guest lists, etc. This is a season when we begin to amplify activity. We run here and there, and end the day exhausted. I don’t know about you, but over the years, this season has had me full of tasks, and obligations; busyness that have become a way of life. We spend our time doing things we don’t really want to do, yet feel we should. We’ve come to believe that being productive and crossing things off our to-do list is the ultimate goal. We must stop that behavior now!!

The truth is life is a gift from God. Our time here is short and each moment is precious. We must make good use of our time. We must live out a balanced and healthy life. We need to lessen our weight and enhance our relax time. This means simple scheduling less in a day. We must seek God more. The Bible makes it clear in Matthews 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” We must learn to prioritize God and de-prioritizing those things that are hindrances.

Stressful Relationships are Not Healthy!!!

Posted on October 28, 2011

“Can two walk together except they be agreed” (Amos 3:3)? In our home, my husband and I raised our children with "The 21 Rules of This House." The first is "we obey our Lord Jesus Christ" and the 21st rule is "when we disobey or forget any of the 21 rules of this house, we accept the discipline and instruction of the Lord. The other rules, well written and clear, were posted for all to view daily plus displayed for guest who entered our home to see. [Still friends and family think I am corny for posting the 21 rules]

I must admit that there are times when a rule to the “baby boomer” parent didn’t seem to translate effectively to the “generation y” child. Therefore communication is a must. The parent must listen to the child and not always just react.

Today, I am noticing as I interact outside of my home, others may not have had 21 rules for their house or a rule or value system. Interacting with them may be confusing and draining. Especially, if there is also poor communication skills.  A simple phrase like “ I don’t understand” or “explain what you mean” may send a person into a short fuse or silence a person. Either way, it is poor communications that leads to bad relationships.

Scenario 1:

The Digestion System

Posted on October 18, 2011

God created our bodies with many parts. We refer to the parts as systems. We see in Romans 12:4, 5, the diversity and unity obtained in the body of Christ where the believers are several members, as the systems in the natural body. The systems depend on each other for the whole body to function properly.

Let’s look at our digestive system. It is an enormous complex piece of equipment that keeps our body fueled and functioning. The digestion system works with the nervous, cardiovascular, lymphatic, endocrine, urinary system to move whole food down and out. Digestion starts in our mouths. However, our brain tells our body that food is coming so saliva production starts before food enters. The whole food that we put on our plate must be mashed up – almost liquefied in our mouth in order for it to split up into the parts: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals.

Here are a few practical tips - We must Keep It Super Simple (KISS)- to get in God’s perfect body balance:

-Slow down! Do not eat fast. Taste your food. Chew your food longer to break down into smaller piof vitamins  eces so the body can absorb easier.

- Talk Less and Chew More! Premature swallowing is caused by lack of chewing while talking. This hinders food being broken down into small pieces and affects the absorption of vitamins and minerals.

- Take Care of Your Teeth. Your teeth are used to chew and grind foods in your mouth to be swallowed.

Fasting

Fasting

Fasting, to go without food, can be a life changing experience. You may go without some foods or all foods. You may do a short or a lengthy fast. None the less, fasting is a means to a better quality of life.

Going without food is a discipline that God intended for each one of us. There are 3 main reasons for fasting: 1) to gain a greater awareness of Him, 2) to free us into more richness & power of the Holy Spirit’s work in our life, and 3) to bring is to a position of greater wellbeing. The manner of fasting God wants us to do is found in the Bible in Isaiah 58:6.

"No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned; lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free, and remove the chains that bind people. “(NLT)

Fasting is personal and it is between you and the Lord. You are not to make a big deal of it to others. In the book of Matthews 6:17,18 Jesus said “But when you fast, comb your hair and wash your face. Then no one will notice that you are fasting, except your Father, who knows what you do in private. And your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” Walking in obedience to the Lord and seeking Him more through regular discipline of prayer and fasting is worth getting serious about.

Time management

Posted on September 29, 2011

Have you ever wished for a few more hours in the day? Why is it that some people seem to get everything done effortlessly and others feel that time constantly eludes them? The secret to managing your time well isn’t working more hours. It is about prioritizing the important things and learning to use the time you have more efficiently and effectively. The secret is working smarter, not harder.

Some of us, by nature, organize and get tasks out of the way before we relax, while others of us play first and work later. It is important to first recognize which type you are and whether your style is allowing you to have the life you really want. Maybe you are super-organized at work, but burned out because you don’t know how to make time for yourself. Maybe you are naturally a less organized person who knows how to relax, but you are dissatisfied because you aren’t fulfilling your goals and dreams.

Rather than labeling yourself or beating yourself up, realize that time management is an area of your life that you can strengthen. Like a new muscle, it takes practice and repetition to make it stronger. To help you get started, here are some steps to streamline your days at work and at home. Try the first one or two that jump out at you:
